They rented Thornton House in Kenilworth and enrolled 26 boys but by 1918 the school had expanded and Mount Royal in Newlands Road, Claremont was bought. The school remained under the leadership of the Stansbury family until 1959 when it became affiliated to St Andrew’s College, Grahamstown. There followed a period of rapid expansion and a series of visionary headmasters.The school celebrated its centenary in 2014.
